Hyundai Equus to come equipped with Apple iPad

The 2011 Hyundai Equus is heading to America and consumers will be a bit surprised to find that there is a new addition to this vehicle – it will now come equipped with an Apple iPad! This was recently revealed at the 2010 New York Auto Show.

The Apple iPad will be replacing the standard owner’s manual with Apple’s new multimedia tablet. This will allow consumers to get an interactive look at their vehicle and its features. It will also allow the consumer to schedule service appointments directly through the device.

The Hyundai Equus is sure to continue to bring up Hyundai’s reputation in the luxury market, competing with BMW, Lexus, and Mercedes-Benz. We are sure to see positive car dealer reviews and consumer reviews as this model becomes available to the public!

According to some reports coming from South Korea, Hyundai Motor Company has developed a bulletproof presidential limousine (similar to the Mercedes-Benz S600 Pullman Guard and a BMW Security 760Li), based on the new generation Hyundai Equus limousine with an

enlarged 5.5L version of the award-winning V8 Tau Engine. In September 2009, Hyundai Motor Company delivered three bulletproof limousine versions of the luxury sedan Hyundai Equus to the South Korea Presidential Security Service.

The bulletproof Hyundai Equus vehicles will be used primarily for security purposes during various events including the 2010 G-20 Leaders Summit to be held in Korea. The bulletproof vehicles are based on the limousine version of the Equus. Hyundai made this vehicle with a special alloy and have an automatic cooler system in case of fire. Hyundai Equus

The Equus shares much of its mechanicals with the Genesis sedan. However, its 203-inch length is about six inches greater than that of the Genesis. The goal was to improve on the Genesis “in every measurable way,” Hyundai says, as well as attract Korean luxury-car buyers who have defected to more-established foreign nameplates. For new markets like the U.S. that have never heard of the Equus—the original version debuted in 1999 and sold more than 120,000 units in Asia and the Middle East.

The Equus clearly has evolved from the Genesis, and like its lesser stable-mate, the Equus comes across as a mish-mash of design cues cribbed from existing vehicles. The chunky side and wheel arches resemble the S-class, for example, while the rear has a decidedly Lexus LS tone to it. The nose is more prominent than the Genesis’s generic mug, and the grille actually has an emblem on it, not to mention an honest-to-goodness hood ornament: the model’s signature winged-horse mascot.

Hyundai describes the interior as sumptuous and it does appear to feature a rich blend of exotic-wood trim, fine leather, and electronic overload. Three interior colors will be offered in the Equus, along with matching hardwood and brushed aluminum accents.
